Frequently Asked Questions

  • Do you have inclusive pricing?

Yes! I absolutely do. Hand dyed yarns are expensive, and designs with cables or larger sizes naturally use more yarn as a result.

Therefore, if you need a sweater quantity of 5 or more skeins of the same base, each skein after the 5th one is 10% off. The easiest way for me to process this is to write you either an individual invoice, or for you to pay full price and I will refund the difference after shipping. Either way, please contact me when you want to place your order, so I can ensure this is handled as smoothly as possible.

  • Do you have Sweater Dyelots?

Yes I do - if you need a sweater quantity, or any quantity really, and you need everything to be the same dyelot, please email me directly to let me know, and I’ll make sure this happens.

  • Where do you ship?

We ship anywhere in Australia. We also ship internationally, but prices for shipping are subject to location. Please visit Australia Post Parcel Delivery to determine whether you are comfortable paying shipping costs. Hit the “Overseas” tab, place “Melbourne, VIC 3000” as the “From” address, and place your country/location in the “To” address field. This will give you a price estimate for Courier, Express, Standard, Economy Air and Economy Sea shipping options, as well as an estimated time of arrival and weight limits. If you’re unsure, please email me, and I can write up an individual invoice if it’s easier.

  • I live internationally, and want to buy your yarn, will you ship to me?

Absolutely! Please contact me directly through fluffandnonsenseyarn@gmail.com, and we will work out the best shipping options for you and add it to your invoice.

  • How much is shipping within Australia?

Australian shipping is a flat $10AUD.

  • Do you use chemicals in your dyeing process?

Yes, I do. I use vinegar, and commercially available dyes.

  • How should I store my skeins?

Unless you plan to immediately cast on, I recommend storing the skeins in their hanks. Storing them as pre-wound cakes will stretch the yarn, and may effect the look of your final object.

  • How should I wash my knitted/crocheted item after I’ve made it?

I do not recommend using a washing machine. I recommend you watch this video by Knitpicks for a demonstration of how to wash knit/crocheted items.

  • Will you help me choose colours that go well together?

Absolutely! I am more than happy to help you choose yarns for your projects. Please contact me directly through fluffandnonsenseyarn@gmail.com, and let me know which colours/bases you are interested in, and I will take photos to help you choose.

  • Will you wind my skeins for me?

At this stage I am not offering this service, but may in future if there is sufficient consumer desire.

  • Do I reeeeeeally need to alternate skeins?

I mean, it’s your choice. I personally would – alternating skeins helps to reduce inadvertent colour pooling in your project, especially when using hand dyed yarn.

  • Where can I see your yarns in person?

At this stage, I am a one-woman, primarily online only business. If you want to know when/where I will be displaying yarns, please follow me on Instagram – I post there regularly and will keep you updated as to when I am at markets/yarn shows.
