Between now and the end of the year, I’ve been lucky enough to be asked to teach in Werribee at the Open Range Zoo, in Geelong at the National Wool Museum for World Wide Knit in Public Day, in Warrnambool for the Woolly Weekend, and at Portarlington (a 1 hour 45 min drive from Melbourne CBD) at Yarn Me Calm.

Come Yarn With Me
Werribee Open Range Zoo
Taking place on Saturday, 30 May 2026 as part of National Reconciliation Week, this free drop-in experience offers a series of scheduled sessions throughout the day, available on a first come, first served basis.
Visitors can take part in traditional weaving sessions led by a Bunurong community member, alongside beginners knitting workshops facilitated by a local teacher from Geelong. Sessions are designed to be short and accessible, welcoming participants of all skill levels—no prior experience is needed.
World Wide Knit in Public Day
National Wool Museum, Geelong
To celebrate World Wide Knit in Public day, Saturday June 13th, we are hosting a workshop for adults to learn how to knit. Run by Fluff and Nonsense’s very own Tess Vandekolk.
Have you always wanted to learn how to knit, but you aren’t sure where to start? Come and learn the basics in a supportive and fun environment. You will learn how to cast on, to knit and purl stitches, and how to cast off, all while making a cute coaster to use under your favourite mugs.

Wool Weekend at Flagstaff Hill
Flagstaff Hill, Warrnambool, July 11-12
Discover the rich history of wool in Warrnambool. See live demonstrations of traditional wool and fibre trades and crafts, including blade shearing, fleece preparation, yarn spinning, knitting and dyeing.
Enjoy historical displays, meet the sheep and take part in interactive storytelling, hands on activities and felting, knitting and hat making workshops.
As part of this weekend, I am teaching a beginners Knitting class, and my Cable Crash Course. I am also excited to announce that the Cable Crash Course has yarn support from Bendigo Woollen Mills.

Sock Knitting at Yarn Me Calm
Portarlington, August 29th
Students need to bring sock yarn that has been pre-wound into cakes, or purchase at Yarn Me Calm. Students will have time to work on socks they have previously attempted, or can work on the Basic Nonsense Socks. Students will leave with a copy of Basic Nonsense Socks and notes taken during the class.
Students will need to know:
Students will need to know how to knit in the round, but this can be done with Magic Loop, Double Pointed Needles, or with Addi Trios.
Beginners Knitting at Yarn Me Calm
Portarlington, August 30th
Have you always wanted to learn how to knit, but you aren’t sure where to start? Come to my class, and learn these basics. I’ll have you feeling comfortable with knitting in no time. You will learn how to cast on, the knit and purl stitches, and how to cast off, all while making a cute coaster to use under your favourite mugs.
Attendance for this class requires:
- 4.00mm needles
- 8ply solid colour yarn, ready to use. Do not bring “Fluffy” yarns like chenille, eyelash yarn, or alpaca/mohair. Do not bring a variegated yarn.
I love teaching. I love getting folks excited about learning new techniques, and helping you work through the bumps in the road!
